What inspired the Fool’s Gold brand?

Fool’s Gold started organically when my boyfriend, Michael Murphy, and I discovered a clear gap in education within the jewelry industry. Underwhelmed by the knowledge that brands or consumers had, we didn’t know which brands to trust and which products were ethically made. We started a journey of research and discovery and worked to source the most sustainable and ethical materials to develop a jewelry collection. With a clean, modern and bold aesthetic, our products are designed to be worn everyday as statement-making pieces, fitting seamlessly into your wardrobe while standing out.

 

How do you develop your products and where are they made?

Fool’s Gold is proudly a US-owned company and all our products are made locally in the United States.

 

How is Fool’s Gold making a positive contribution?

As part of our non-profit initiatives we have helped to fund a program that removes children from diamond mines and pays for their schooling.

 

What is your jewelry made of?

Each product is made up of its own individual materials. Please check the items product page for material details.

 

What makes your products eco-friendly?

We use sustainably-harvested birch wood, ethically-sourced leather and recycled brass or bronze in our products.

 

What is the best way to care for my jewelry?

For all jewelry other than solid gold fine jewelry: Please remove your jewelry while exercising, showering and swimming. Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions or hair products. Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach or oil, as this can affect the finishing. Fool’s Gold is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewelry. As with all costume jewelry, last on and first off is the rule.

 

How should I clean my jewelry?

Many of our pieces achieve a rich patina with wear. We love the look, but to maintain your piece’s original finish, buff with a polishing cloth and store in an anti-tarnish tissue or cloth bag after use. For a non-toxic deeper clean, we suggest applying white vinegar with a soft cloth (a mix of baking soda and lemon juice will also do the trick). Rinse with warm water and dry immediately. Avoid contact with stones and hollow beads.

 

Do I have a jewelry allergy?

Some people have allergic reactions to some metals or plating. The most common is nickel – possibly up to 10% of people reach to nickel. All of our jewelry is solid bronze or mostly wood, which does not contain any nickel.

 

My jewelry is turning my skin green, what do I do?

Everyone’s skin type is different. Some people have strong reactions to bronze, nickel and gold plating. If you are susceptible to this, please avoid buying non-solid gold or sterling silver jewelry. We do not offer refunds or returns for this reason. We apologize in advance.

 

What payments do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards.

 

Do you have gift cards?

We do not at the moment.

 

Do I need to pay international taxes and duties?

Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. The general amount for the duties and taxes fee is 20% of the dollar amount of the merchandise. However, this is just a general guideline and may vary depending on the country to which the order was shipped. You should contact your customs office for specific amounts and percentages.

 

Fool’s Gold cannot control and is not responsible for any duties/taxes applied to your package. You will be responsible for paying additional charges for customs clearance. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; please contact your local customs office for further information. Note, in rare occasions custom agents may delay delivery of some packages. By law, we must declare all items at their full price and cannot alter this amount to decrease international custom fees.

 

If you refuse a shipment from Fool’s Gold, you are responsible for the original shipping charges, any import fees, duties and/or taxes that are incurred on the package, and the cost of returning the package to Fool’s Gold. This amount will be deducted from your merchandise refund. In the instance that the return fee exceeds the amount of the merchandise plus shipping costs, the package will be abandoned and you will not be refunded.

 

Am I still required to pay customs, duties, taxes, and collection fees when I receive ‘Free International Shipping’?

Yes, all international orders may be subject to taxes and duties. These fees are charged by your government and are entirely separate from any shipping fees.

 

What is my order status?

You will receive an order status page when you check out. Feel free to save that page or email us for it. You can also email us with your order number via our contact page and just ask!

 

How can I cancel my order?

If your order has not been shipped you may cancel your order.

 

Can I change my order?

If your order has not been shipped yet, you may change your order.

 

How do I use my discount code?

You can use your discount code at the checkout page.

 

Can you combine discount codes?

No. You can only use one discount code per order.

 

What is my order number?

Please email us with your name and email address and we will help you locate it!

 

Do you allow returns or exchanges?

We do allow for returns within 30 days of your order. We do not offer exchanges at the moment.

 

When do you ship?

We ship Monday – Friday with the exception of US holidays.

 

When will my order arrive?

Most orders are packed and shipped within 1-3 days of your purchase. Some of our jewelry is made-to-order, and will take up to two weeks to ship out. Please allow for processing time when choosing 1-Day Shipping. Average delivery time for domestic orders is 3-7 business days. Average delivery time for international orders is 5-10 business days.

 

What carriers do you use?

We ship USPS.

 

When will my order ship?

Most orders are packed and shipped within 1-3 business days of your purchase. We use this time to handcraft the jewelry, allow for any address changes, cancelations or mishaps.

 

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping on orders over $100 in value for domestic orders, and over $200 in value for international orders.

 

How can I track my order?

A tracking number will be provided when your order has been shipped. If you still haven’t received it, please contact us with your order number and email address. Tracking information can sometimes take a few days to update.

 

Do you ship to my country?

Most likely yes, with a few exceptions. You can proceed to the checkout and our system will let you know.

 

What if I entered the wrong shipping address?

If you have provided an incorrect address and your order has not already shipped, we will do our best to update your order with the correct address. If you provide an incorrect address at the time of the order we cannot guarantee that you will be able to change it. Sometimes we ship orders quickly.

 

What if my order was returned to sender?

If your package is returned to us for any reason you will be responsible for paying for the package to be sent again.

 

My tracking number hasn’t updated, what do I do?

Sometimes carriers get a little backed up. Give it a few days to update and contact us if it doesn’t.

 

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, please reach out and we will do what we can to make it right.

 

I’m unsure about a size or I have a fit question. How do I find this information?

Can I return or exchange items that were purchased on sale?

How long does it take to process my return?

Once we have received your package, your refund will be processed within seven business days. You will be notified via email at the address listed on your account when this transaction has taken place. Please note that your banking institution may require additional days to process and post this transaction to your account once they have received the information from us.

 

Do You Have Any Store Locations?
